Dynamic Penetration Process of Torpedo Anchors into Sand Foundation

Torpedo anchors are a new type of anchoring system in deepwater that is much more economical than conventional methods. The dynamic penetration process vitally important to the installation torpedo anchors. Based on spherical cavity expansion theory, response characteristics pressure-locked soils analyzed using Mohr-Coulomb criterion. equations for with bullet-shaped heads established considering rod friction. Subsequently, analytical solutions velocity, acceleration, and final depth approximate solution vs. time obtained. equation solved MATLAB software obtain semi-analytical solution, model tests anchor different initial velocities into saturated sand densities were conducted. A comparison test results shows can well predict results, indicating method be used analyze research provide guideline seabed actual engineering.
